Untitled Archer Information

k, the “title” is somewhat ironic but that’s what it will be until I come up with something new >_>  Ideas on how to improve this page will be appreciated.

Note: This post is what Ive done in the past with my character, sort of a biography, sort of a guide. Im putting this up as there are many people asking “how did you do your skills?” or “where do you suggest I put my ap?”, etc. This will hopefully answer all the questions. If something is not covered, feel free to ask at the bottom. If you’re just here for information, look for italicized text. If not, then just read through the whole and laugh and cry with my experiences.

Levels 1-30: Ive played these levels of this game 3 times, once in beta and twice in GMS (Retalion, then ALastReprise). Here is what I did for each one:

Retalion (Beta): This was a LONG time ago so I dont remember the details, but a few things DO stand out in my memory: Ap: I remember putting points into hp (lol) with the reasoning that more hp means I die less often. I was told I needed 25 dex to make an archer so that’s all I had into dex (25), with some points into strength and a few into int and luk (6 in int, 5 in luk I think). As well, I thought that adding strength points made your character’s muscles grow bigger (pretty silly as I think back on it) so I put too many points into strength to begin with.

Training: On Maple Island, to get to 10 I trained randomly and on Victoria Island, I spent time in the lower levels training in mushroom trees, just sniping from the edge of the bottom portal outwards and looting every once in a while. At 18 I went to a map that was 2 right of henesys in the Ellinia direction and sniped blue mushrooms for around 1%/minute, meaning 60%/hr. I shot single arrows at them the whole time (I’ll explain that later >_>). I did this till 20 or 21 where if I rmeember correctly, I started training at the Ant Tunnel (bottom of map 1), where I just stood on the sniping spot and shot arrows all day. I liked that spot because I didnt have to burn pots and only used arrows. However, I was constantly ksed there. I was there from 21-30 if I recall correctly. During those levels, I would do kerning party quests occasionally here and there. Note that Victoria was the only place available so most of the good training choices available now werent available then.

Skill points: Amusing as it is, I didnt know the existence of these till level 17 or 18. Why? No one ever told me. So at 17, a friend told me and when I saw it, I naturally thought the 1st one was best and put 8 points into getting extra accuracy. I then maxed out range and put 10 points into Arrow blow cause I thought it looked cool. Then I was told that I was supposed to get double shot, not arrow blow so I started pumping points into that and half way through, I went and got critical shot. By the end of 1st job, I didnt have enough points to max out both Critical and Double Shot (DS), so I just put the last point into Critical and had maxed Critical and 19 DS (About all I remember).

Retalion (GMS): I remember the day OMS came out and I felt that all the hard work I had put into my 46 hunter would be wasted. My friends told me to grab original names such as “Jack” but I liked the name Retalion so I stuck with that. Heck, I was at the point of just staying in Beta cause I liked my character there so much but all my friends went so I decided to go as well. They all told me to choose something else cause archers are hard to train, but I just liked archers so much that I just went archer again.

AP: This time, I was more knowledgeable. I still had no idea what “perfect stats” were but I knew I just needed dex and strength, so I went with 5 int and 5 luk as I like rounded numbers (I think I had 10 strength and 5 dex or 5 strength 10 dex, but they were rounded numbers that were increments of 5). After that, I just pumped everything into dex and merely put 5 strength in every level before I needed to use a bow (bows were every 5 levels, so putting points when I hit the level would work). The guides I read (which werent very good) suggested going 4 dex and 1 strength every level but I figured the extra dex would give me more attack for now so, thats what I went with.

Training: Maple Island till 10, then the map right of henesys till 15, where I went blue mushrooms till 18-19 (Same sniping spot). Ant tunnel till 25, then Kerning pq till 31. I didnt go to Ossyria as it was new and I was “scared” I’d run into strong monsters. At 31, after my last pq, I went with a bunch of my pq friends to explore for the first time and made a big deal of it, lol (Lance, you might still remember that and dying there xD). Good times, good times.

AP: I knew better this time but as I wanted to be reminded of beta, so I still went with 10 ab/20 ds. However, this time, I was able to do that without messing up my build. so 3 blessing, 8 eye, 20 critical, 10 ab, 20 ds as a final build. I left ds at 10 for 3 levels to save mp as I was poor.

ALastReprise: My newest character. This was made after Retalion was deleted and I had lots of help from friends here so many of the things I did probably might not be relevant.

AP: As some can tell, I like reminiscing to old chars, so I went with 5/5 for luk/int again. This time, I boosted my strength to 25 early to do more dmg on Maple Island and then capped it at 35 at around 15. I pumped the rest of the points into dex till 30.

Training: As I said I had lots of help from friends, so I used exchange quests till 22 (For those who dont know what they are, its a quest where select monster drops in Orbis are traded in in sets of 100 for 500 exp and some pots or something.) At 22 I went to the mushroom tree and at 25, I went masks to 27, then seahorses to 30.

SP: Same build as Retalion except I put 9 points into focus instead of arrow blow. I maxed eye, critical, then double shot in that order with 9 points in focus at the end. It was when I started killing monsters to train (at around 22) that I realized how weak single arrows were in just depending on criticals. Those levels were pretty brutal and I had to have friends leech me till I could get a decent level of double shot.

Looking back:

AP: If you can, get “perfect stats”, which is 4/4 on int and luk. If you’re going normal strength, then put 25 points into strength right away before getting your dex to 25 (for the advance). The reasoning is that strength adds more dmg with a sword/melee weapon, which is what you’ll be using in the earlier levels. If you’re going strengthless, then you know what you’ll do: Just put everything into dex, lol. The 25 strength will last you till level 20 so from 10 to 20, just put everything into dex. After that, just put strength when you need extra to equip a bow.

Training: Well, when I started this char, henesys pq wasnt out but from what I see, that would be a great place to train if you can get a good party. The bonus has a lot of pigs and seem to be good exp if the map is split. Do that till, 20, where you can Kerning pq if you want to move up in pqs. If you have exchange quest items to get you up that far, by all means do it. If you can fund yourself that way, why not? Its definitely the fastest way to train (500 exp every 10 seconds for just standing there and clicking sounds good to me). I would suggest not training till 20 or so in which I would suggest going to a tree dungeon and killing green/horny mushrooms. I would say from mid to late 20’s, seahorses would be the best place to train (bolded on how strongly I feel to train there). The map involves swimming so MOST of the time, you’ll be sniping (except for the bottom), meaning that you will barely use hp pots (I found I had to heal because of the water taking away my hp more than actually running into monsters). The exp is pretty good and if I remember right, its around 30-40%/hr.

Skill points: As said above, the critical first build makes it slightly hard to train and the damage you do will be weak. Going critical first is only useful in saving money as you wont burn mp pots then. Thinking about it, I personally did not notice the increase in range that eye added, so I would suggest a build like this: 10 critical, 1 arrow blow (to unlock Double shot), max double shot, 10 critical, 3 blessing (to unlock eye) and then 9 into focus (9 avoid saves you money, lol >_>).

To be continued….

Hi Jackk about 6 months ago I saw your Retalion video and it was just so freakin badass I watched it atleast 20 times by now. Ever since then I have been a bowmanaholic, I started my ranger about 4 months ago and I am almost 9x on Mardia (SageSundae). So I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me.

    Hello Jack,

I presonally LOVE bowmans and I really enjoy playing on them. Recently I had an accident iwth my character/ account. I used the randomize my password application and resetted my password. So then I went and tried my email, what I found out was that I forgot the email i used for the bowman ( currently level 101, 40%). At this point my friends began cheering me up and stuff. Then my friend sends me your video and I watched it over and over AND OVER. This finally inspired me to remake a bowman of my own and climb back up to where I belong.
Thank you so my Jack for inspiring people like me , your video also cheered me up . Hope to see more of it!!!!! :D

    Sincerly ,
    Benny, xFlyte

Man, I’m so new to this WordPress thing, just joined last night…

But anyway, I’m probably repeating what 92,938 other people have said but you’re a real inspiration to me. I especially say this because I had the exact same thing happen to me about 1.5 months ago; my Ranger (105 at the time) was hacked and deleted, two years of work gone. And instead of quitting, I remade my character. I almost decided to give up when I was in my late 20s but a guild ally showed me your video and it seriously made me cry, as corny as that sounds. >_>

I’m level 54 now, after taking a long break from training due to college preparations and technical issues, and I’m going to keep going until I get back to where I once was, hopefully even further. c:

Thank you. :> *runs off now*
