Looking at the title, what’re you thinking? Is this a post about myself? my story? my comeback from being hacked? Perhaps its a way for me to introduce my newest video, a way for me to tell a story about my past, a statement about what has happened to me. Let me tell you what happened to me last night and today.

Last night after coming home from church, I remembered that this week was the Espys. Now what’s so important about the Espys to me? Nothing. Its that Espy weeks means that its the week the Jimmy V foundation for Cancer has their fundraising on sports radio. I’ve heard small excerpts of the speech on the radio before (I usually leave it on the sports station) and always found it motivational so I took the time to youtube it last night (for those wondering, Jim Valvano was a college basketball coach that fought cancer and eventually lost, but he won the 1993 Arthur Ashe award and started the ESPN Jimmy V foundation for cancer research) and it was an AMAZING speech. Two quotes from it really stood out to me:

1. Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. (This is the quote that the Jimmy V foundation is famous for)

2. Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart, and it cannot touch my soul and those three things are going to carry on forever.

The speech overall had an impact on me and for those who’ve never seen it here it is (there’s some humor, motivation and everything else in it. Totally worth the 10 minutes in my opinion):

Fast forward to today. As many of you know, Im a baseball fan and this week is the All-Star Game. Today was the Home Run Derby (a contest to see who can hit the most home runs) and over and over, I heard about the mention of the Josh Hamilton story. Now a few months ago, I had breifly heard it on Jim Rome show a while ago and after watching the Home Run Derby, I decided to search it up. I was completely blown away by it. That combined with the Jimmy V Espy speech made me remember my goal, my purpose, what I want to do, in life and on ms: To be a beacon of light, to be a motivation for all.

What’s the story Im talking about? Here it is (warning, for people like Josh, the video would be tl;dl (didnt listen) and the story would be tl;dr but for those who want to read it, its a really amazing, inspirational story).

Some of you might know, others might not, but this week, Ive been helping out at my church’s Vacation Bible School, which is a program for Children to learn about God and just to have fun in general (and a week that parents dont have to worry about in terms of figuring out what their kids will do). They had a Science/Laboratory/Chemistry like theme this year and thier “job titles” were all witty things related to the topic. Im not sure why, but my job title was “Lab Security”, even though I did nothing but move boxes inside and outside for them and just basically helped out wherever I saw a need. I concluded that it was just a creative way to say “We have nothing better for you to do” and Im fine with that. It gives me a lot more freedom and more importantly, I dont have to worry about the troublesome kids (2 years ago, I yelled at kids a lot just cause my group was highly dysfunctional) xD.

Anyways, so today, mother nature was acting up and for some reason, it was unbelievably windy (Vancouver is almost never windy except for occasional blows and even then, it never happens in the summer). It was totally unexpected and the poles of some of the tents that were setup blew off. So what do they have the “Lab Security” dude do? Why, hold down the poles of the tent to make sure it doesnt fly off (and of course keep it up so it doesnt hurt kids). They were planning to pin down the tents so they went out to get equipment to hold the tent down (buckets to fill with water and elastic rope to tie it down). So I spent 1 hour today standing out in the windy temperature hanging onto some poles to make sure a tent didnt fly away. So 1 hour later ,they come back with the buckets and rope and we fortify the tents.

What happens? Two other tents blow over (We had 5 tents in total) so in the end, we end up taking down the tent I spent an hour keeping up >_> along with the other tents (I was for taking the tent down all along but the admin was like “We need to keep it up for the carnival tomorrow”).

Overall, I was not happy…I didnt mind doing it… I just didnt see the point in it…especially when the obvious solution was so obvious (at least to me). Oh well, hopefully it wont be as windy tomorrow. In case anyone is wondering, the wind was apparently so bad, it blew out the electricity in half of Vancouver and two of the surrounding cities (I live in the West side of Vancouver so I wasnt effected… yay for living close to rich people >_>). The church didnt run out of power, we just ended up shutting kids inside for the whole day, rofl. That and it was a pain in the ass trying to move tables inside because it was so windy (I almost got blown over cause the tables got caught in the wind).

Oh well, one more day of VBS. Im going to be at church all day tomorrow so… yeah. July 11th tomorrow. Visit your 7/11’s for free slurpies! (For those wondering, I really havent been on MS all week… VBS has me too tired and drained to feel like shark hunting for SE 20, lol).

We all remember how last year my laptop crahsed and burned right? Well, over the weekend, my mp3 started having problems. The battery wouldnt charge and whatnot so yesterday I sent Creative an email about it. I had bought it on July 8th last year and it had 1 year of warranty on it and they say that they’ll send you an email back in 24 hours. So when do I get an email? 12:05 am July 9th.

The email basically says “We cant answer your question because you’re not in the 1 year email support warranty. If you want help, you can buy a 30 minute tutorial session for $12.99.

…no. The mp3 is worth 60 and Im going to buy a session for basically 1/5th the cost and the person probably wont be able to fix it anyway? yeah… nice try but no thanks.

Im just hoping that it’ll randomly start working again as it has the last 4 times it randomly, mysteriously stopped working but I wouldnt bet on it. I suppose if it never works again (basically the battery wont charge and the freaking person who emailed me back wouldnt tell me if Im able to purchase a new battery) I’ll just use it as a 2 gig flash drive or something.

As for a replacement, Im thinking of getting a phone with an mp3 along with every other damn thing you can think of (Iphone perhaps?… whenever the hell it gets to Canada that is) but I’ll hold off for now. Its the summer anyways so I dont really need an mp3 atm…oh well. If you know me irl, you know what to get me for Christmas >_>
